The VMT Lodge
Backcountry luxury at 1720m
Your mountain home
The VMT Lodge is a touch of luxury, nestled deep in the Kootenay wilderness. Able to host 14 guests comfortably, our beautiful lodge has private bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen, indoor flush toilets, hot showers, a wood-fired sauna, deeply comfortable leather sofas and a gear drying room. Originally built as a one-bedroom bunkhouse more than 30 years ago, the VMT Lodge has been continually upgraded and modernized to become the mountain palace it is today.
Our guests are consistently blown away by the level of comfort they can experience so deep in the backcountry.
We think you will be too.
Lodge location
Nestled just north of Valhalla Provincial Park in the Selkirk Mountains of British Columbia, the Valhalla Mountain Touring Lodge and terrain is accessed via a 16km Forest Service Road on the outskirts of Hills, BC.
We own and operate our own snowcat, which means no helicopter weather delays and no stressing about weight limits. Meet us down in the valley, at our staging area in Hills and enjoy an hour long ride into the snowy backcountry.
Layout & amenities
The lodge is home to 7 private bedrooms - 3 family rooms, each of which can accommodate up to 4 people, and 4 double bedrooms. So whether you’re travelling solo, as a couple or with the full wolfpack, we can cater to most group configurations.
But you won’t be spending much time in your bedroom anyway. There’s a large living space to lounge in, complete with deep leather sofas, a stereo system and a huge dining table. Plus just outside, our sauna outbuilding has a large heated changing room and a wood-fired sauna to relax in.
A hot shower and two indoor flush toilets are available to use at any time.
Connectivity & home comforts
Our own micro-hydro system provides the lodge with 24/7 electricity, as well as hot and cold water from every tap.
Limited Wifi is also available throughout the lodge, so while we encourage social spaces to remain screen free, you can check in with family or work whenever is needed.
We provide everything you might need for a comfortable stay at VMT - including linens, pillows and down duvets. For more information on what you might like to bring, see our packing lists here.
